About the Music

While living in Massachusetts, I watched a PBS-TV documentary one evening on the construction of the new Clark Bridge which spans the Mississippi River at Alton, Illinois, my hometown. Memories of the old rickety Clark Bridge came flooding in, so I was captivated by what I saw. Shortly thereafter, I put to music the title song, along with five additional pieces about places along the Great River Road which skirts the Mississippi River. Clark Bridge Symphony, an instrumental and my first cd, is the result of that effort. The music gives expression to the places I know best, including the magnificent limestone bluffs, eagle sightings in wintertime, and the mythical Piasa Bird painted on the bluffs at Alton.
